Synopsis: The location and analysis of a rare Inquisition documentary record that described the hallucinatory and demonic adventures of four Spanish adolescents from the Spanish village of Queretaro (Quer\u00e9taro, M\u00e9xico) at the end of the 17th century, was not an anecdotal event. It was the spark that prompted the author to try to explain this event and reconstruct the deepest gears of a singular colonial religious popular culture. The author seeks to understand this case of possession taking as a starting point the use of hallucinogenic plants by the patients. In summary, this book shows us that under an always elusive daily life, a profoundly hybrid culture was taking shape, capable of integrating indigenous and Spanish beliefs, and whose faint traces are perceived through the delusions and nightmares of a group of Spanish maidens.<\/p>\n
